Magic Pie & Smart Pie Discussions / Re: connecting with the controller Magic Pie IV

If you have definitely selected the correct COM port relating to the USB-SERIAL CH340 device in Device Manager, then try clicking the "blue helmet" again after the power is turned on to see if it will connect.

It might be worth downloading and installing the USB Driver to see if it makes any difference.

General Discussions / Re: 5kw motor jitters after Hall Sensor replacement
« Last post by Bikemad on February 09, 2024, 12:05:40 AM »
Did you replace all three Hall Sensors with Honeywell SS41 Hall Sensors?
If you used different Hall Sensors, it is possible that they may operate differently to the original ones.

Hall Sensors can also be damaged if heat from the soldering iron is applied for too long.
Use a voltmeter to check the operation of all three Hall Sensors to confirm they are all working correctly.
Take a look at this post and this video for more details on testing the operation of the hall sensors.

I usually thread a nut on the opposite end of the axle (freewheel or non-controller side) until the outer side of the nut is flush with the end of the axle. I then tap the end of the axle/nut with a large wooden mallet (or use a large hammer with a block of wood placed against the axle/nut to cushion the blow and prevent damage) until the cover on the controller side comes away.

I don't recommend this method.  It is too easy to damage the axle threads with the bolt on I couldn't get the bolt off and I had to file the threads down enough to get past the spot.

I don't understand how you managed to damage steel threads on the axle if you used a wooden mallet (or a large hammer with a block of wood placed against the axle/nut to cushion the blow and prevent damage) as I described.

I have dismantled several motors using this technique and have never damaged anything on the motor (however, the block of wood I used did sustain some minor injuries).

User Guides/Catalog / Re: light and horn
« Last post by ElectricStreet on February 07, 2024, 05:20:23 AM »
Thank you for the helpful suggestions.  I'm still in communication with Golden Motor bike about doing a swap.

I also bought a headlight and horn from them.  I think I was supposed to get a bracket like it showed in the picture on the website but that didn't arrive with the order.  I'm wondering about that.  I hope I can get these issue answered and resolved.

Magic Pie & Smart Pie Discussions / connecting with the controller Magic Pie IV
« Last post by ElectricStreet on February 01, 2024, 09:59:47 AM »
I just finished installing a new Magic Pie IV vector control motor on a cruiser.  I downloaded the software from the Golden Motor website and extracted the compressed files in my laptop.  I connected the USB cable into the wire harness on the bike and opened  the device manager to see what com port it was connected.  The com port was  COM 3 on my computer and in the box in the configuration.  When I clicked on the blue helmet I paused and "time out" came up on the screen.  Then nothing happened when I turned on the bike electricity.  This is the Magic Pie IV that was going to be separated and put into a Magic Pie III wheel.   So it was hit with a impact hammer to try to split and I think hitting it like so was not good.  The controller is dust.

Figured it out. The Eggrider is off by a hundred. I changed the circumference value from 2045 to 2145 and the odometer reading is spot-on with my gps. Afterwards I took a new reading to see if maybe I counted wrong; nope, I got 2040mm, or 80.25”.

General Discussions / Non-Magic with BAC028 controller Connector issue
« Last post by e-lmer on January 25, 2024, 05:21:42 PM »

I have one of the original golden motor wheels and upgraded to the first generation BAC Controllers
with Molex connectors and Chinese labeling.  I then upgraded to the newer BAC controller, but the wiring is different on
the 12 pin connector.

The wheel came with 2 and 3 connectors going to a 12 pin white molex style connector.
(Like a PC power harness)

The new controller came with multi-color JST style locking connectors.
Where can I source the male version of the JST style wire to wire connectors?

Thanks for the advice.

If they're not getting hot then 7A continuous and 9A peak should  be fine.

If you find this does not give sufficient power for hill assistance you may be able to increase it slightly, but make sure the motors are not getting too hot.
