Title: Painting batteries with Tremclad for protection. Good idea or no?

Ok so where I live they use a lot of salt and sand for the sidewalks and I will be doing the underside of my scooter with tremclad for protection.
As the batteries are aluminum on the outside.
Should I also protect them with a coat as well?
Thought on this?

Also I do live by the Pacific ocean as well.

Painting the cells shouldn't cause a problem but it would be much better to protect them by installing them inside a waterproof enclosure, as the chance of saltwater getting onto electrical connections should really be avoided at all costs.  ;)

I was thinking for all wired connectors [if possible] to use glued shrink wrap tubing. The glue is for waterproofing.
As for waterproofing the enclosure, not sure I can and STILL have access to it decently.
Also I have to think of space as well as it will be on the deck of the mobility scooter.
So not a lot of space there.
Was thinking of using thin plywood for the box itself.
And then varethaning the heck out of it.
I did this already for the outside protection of my air conditioner and it is doing great after a couple years or so.
Thing is though, it has to somehow be ventilated as well for heat removal during the summer.
Lots to consider.
