Hmm not quite sure of your question do to the wording. But I`ll try, the 20% is off the Magic Pie Conversion Kit before shipping shown here:

I cant do 20% off the Battery, I would be selling it at a loss. Most people assume we are making alot of profit on each sale. Nothing could be further from the truth. Some things the profit is as little as 5 percent. But what we do have is volume of sales!

I can see this notice on goldenmotor Canada shop and on the goldenmotor.com website, but on the latter the prices are still the same? (on goldenmotor.ca it shows the new promotional price)

Edit: and unfortunately the 48V20Ah battery on goldenmotor.com seems to have gained weight: from 10.25 kg to 12.8 kg, which also comes with a price increase from $568 to $655. Type designation is still LFP-4820 though.. strange.

I could be mistaken, but I believe it is because this battery used to come in a duct tape wrap and now its in a hard plastic shell. I have included two pictures below from the GM china site and you can see by the name of each jpg that they both refer to a 48v20ah battery.

I think you are right, I also noticed the difference in the pictures, but figured that 2kg difference seemed a bit much for just adding some plastic. Too bad, I would have preferred cheaper, lighter batteries for integration :). Ah well, still a great product line at great prices, I'd be crazy to complain :)

Sorry Gary, but unfortunately they don't.

The file name used for the 36V 15Ah duct tape battery was originally "LiFePO4 Pack.jpg" but when uploading the file to the web, the process of uploading files uses FTP, which does not like empty spaces and replaces them with "%20" instead.

The file name should really appear as "LiFePO4%20Pack.jpg", but for some reason the "%" symbol does not appear in the attachment description.

Well at least now you know the reason for the confusion, but I somehow suspect that you wish you didn't! ;)

Gary on you site it says
Quote
The Magic Pie Motorized Wheel kit with 50A controller built in to the Wheel

Is this a typo or have your Magic Pies really got 50a controllers ?
I measured the controller with my Magic Pie and it peaked around 25a

I hope the soft pack is still available.  I am certain that
I cannot use a pack that has the potential to plug
an AC cord into the pack charging connector.

Hyena;

You can't just measure directly, you have to load the wheel to
get up to 50A.  The higher the load at any particular voltage
the higher the current required to make the wheel turn at
the appropriate speed.

I'm fully aware of that - I tested it on the road with a wattsup meter at different voltages and at different loads from slight inclines to hard starts on hills to almost stalling and the max I got was around 25a.
I wouldn't expect them to really be 50a internally, I suspect they'd get quite hot.

Hi, I just purchased a Magic Pie from http://www.goldenmotor.ca/ I had plans on purchasing one as I felt the controler in the motor was a good clean looking concept.
When I seen the 20% off, I had to buy it, the kit was already at a very competetive price and the additional savings made the decision a little easier.

I was contacted shortly after my purchase by Gary from goldenmotor.ca to let me know when my order would arrive, It was nice to see good communication from the start.
I would encourage others who are considering  purchasing  a hub motor kit to check out http://www.goldenmotor.ca/ .

Thanks,
Dave

I think I put that there because I had heard it was the same controller inside the wheel as the one used in the regular kits. Anyway I fixed it just in case I'm mistaken.

Hello and THANK YOU .. I first saw the sale at the canada store but found that I could not order from them as I live in the USA ...

I went on to the website to find out ths lesson about not ordering from Canada . And to my Suprise ;DI got an email from one of the managers "who I am Embarassed to have forgotten his name" And He was the most kind persom in his letter writing . offering me the same %20 off.  ;D So I am now another happy customer of theirs .

I was an auto mechanic for 15 - 20 years in another life so I am thinking that This will be pretty easy to install but it's nice to know that theres somewhere to contact besides a useless phone # ....  :'(.. I call "Infinity Hold"

I also received a Very Nice Confromation letter from Golden Motors .. And was quite impressed by it ..

Anyhow I just wanted to say thank you and share my great experience .
Thanks Again , Golden Motors , Don J.

Hi DJ,

Thanks for that, I believe you are reffering to my email. I just wanted to say here that I did not sell a pie to a US customer, I don't want to step on any toes. I just researched the US sites for you discovered they are not selling the pies yet, then directed you to GM China to get your slice of the pie before the sale was over. Glad you didn't miss out. Long live the Pie!

Just realized that I can order two Magic Pies from the GM China site today - and have them shipped for a total of 50 BUX LESS than the two ordered on the Big Release Day of 10/20 -- and am still waiting to receive!

Punish those early adopter Guinea Pigs  :o ??? :P

Something strange on the main ordering page too...

You can specify a Magic Pie 26" rear wheel + throttle for $100 less than the current kit price!

Does that page not take into account that the controller is integrated?  ???

Edit:
*** My mistake - if you select a controller the price goes up to the kit price ***

Could be confusing though...?

I noticed the price to purchase the motor only (instead of a complete wheel) still varies according to the wheel size.

And you can select the Magic Pie in rim sizes which are not available.

There are obviously a few bugs in the system.
