48V 3KW BLDC Hall Sensor Sequence and angles
« on: January 29, 2019, 05:45:10 PM »
Hello all,

I'm new to working with these motors and have some trouble getting the motor controller programmed for them. I originally was using two VEC200 controllers, however, they ended up not working out for our project. I have since switched to a Roboteq dual motor controller.

My problem is that I can not seem to find any information about what the hall sensor angles (and offsets if any) are, nor any info on hall sensor sequence/order. Does anyone have any info on this? I've tried contact golden motor but have not gotten any kind of response.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Brian andto the forum.

Unfortunately there is very little available regarding the technical specification of those motors. :(

Regarding the Phase sequence, the original configurations on the GM controller are shown below:

U = Yellow
V = Green
W = Blue

I think the Phase angle is 120° but no idea about Hall Sensor angles or offsets.

The following diagram may help as I believe the 3kW motor is pretty much the same layout as the 5kW motor shown:

So for clockwise rotation, I'm guessing that the Hall Sensor sequence will presumably be Yellow > Green > Blue.

I believe the 3kW motor also has 24 coils and 8 magnet (4 pole pairs).

I hope some of this is useful.

Hi Alan,

I know this post is old, but I plan on developing a ESC for the HPM3000B as a final project for my Graduate Degree and would like to confirm this information:

I believe the 3kW motor also has 24 coils and 8 magnet (4 pole pairs).

So you believe the rotor and stator have 4 pole pairs?

24 coils / 3 phases = 8 coils per phase = 4 pole pairs
8 magnets = 4 pole pairs

Thats it, right?
I plan on running some tests on the motor to confirm this. (Comparing speed and wave frequency)

So you believe the rotor and stator have 4 pole pairs?

24 coils / 3 phases = 8 coils per phase = 4 pole pairs
8 magnets = 4 pole pairs

Thats it, right?

The 3kW and 5kW rotors both have 8 magnets (4 pole pairs) as shown below:

But I don't know if the stators now have 24 coils like this 5kW motor;

as this 2012 5kW stator only had 12 coils (4 coils per Phase):

You can find more useful information on the Miromax website.

It will be interesting to see the results of your tests.
