Photovoltaic cell for MPIII??

(1/1)

Scooter:
I'm not a huge electrical buff.  Wondering if there's a knowledgeable person who could inform if a cell would be feasible for the MPIII.
I live in SoCal.  I get about 20 miles per charge if I ride only on flat terrain.  Really great, actually.  I was hoping to fit a cell on a custom-built rack (similar to the racks that hold the battery on some bikes).
If I'm out all day--or head to the beach where my (MPIII powered) scooter is just chained to a post it would be great to harness the sunshine and get a mile or two more out of the battery!

Big Thanx for help/advice.

Middles Nowhere:
flex and fold...would be my suggestion

I'm sure someone here would love to explain the electrics to BMS for you...

Scooter:
Is this a particular product for 48v?
Any more info on where to find?
Thanx.

OzGeeksGarage:
Only problem with it not being part of the bike is having it removed & stolen you could use the foot deck as a Solar cell and have a cover over it when riding.

Middles Nowhere:
OzGeeksGarage made a good point about theft, I don’t know how you’d secure a flexi panel.

Just Google “flexible folding solar panels” there are quite a few options out there.

You can charge a 48v battery with a 12v or 24v solar panel with a DC to DC charge controller/converter. I use a 12v folding panel on a 24v system with charge controller on a camper trailer setup to top up my batteries when I’m camping. I've have not experimented with charging a e-bike battery yet...but will do at some point.
