You just have to slowly release the throttle and regen slows you down, the more you turn back on the throttle the more it brakes. I rarely use the actual brakes. Its also very good for very slow speed control. I can go at walking pace and control the speed precisely without it rolling forward. Good for down hill to when I come out of the train station and people are all around, very controllable.

This sounds interesting. Where did you get this throttle?

The original controller worked that way for regen.
You left it on and when you let off the throttle it
gave you regen.

What happens when you're cycling up a steep hill and completely release the throttle in order to signal a turn with your arm?

I have to set the cruise control on my Pie to prevent the bike from suddenly decelerating when I need to signal a right turn at speed, and that's without the regen cutting in!

You signal turns with your left arm, and the throttle is on the right.

Left arm straight out, left turn, up at the elbow, right turn.  :)

I never used that feature, I just knew it existed.

They don't have it implemented, but I would like
the regen tied to the brake lever switch and the percentage
of regen controlled by the throttle.  Variable braking.

You could do that with a Kelly controller and a relay :)
