e-lmer:
I live on a pretty steep hill.

Regenerative braking does not work
at speeds over 20mph.

It also is all or nothing.

I would like a half brake (configurable?)
controlled by a button so I can slow down
 from overspeed or slow slightly
on a downhill run.

Thaialien:
Hi
Thats on what version controller ?

e-lmer:
Magic pie version 1.
Don't get me wrong, it's worked flawlessly,
out is just a wish that I had half brakes.

Thaialien:
Hi e-lmer and all
You like the lower level regen braking i.e. high/low (so you like to get as much out of the batteries as possible or range ! and use real brakes only when you have too )  REAL STOP !
If your using DUAL motors have you split the brakes cirkits (front brake full regen is a bit hairy !)

i have a 3 wheeled pedicab with 2 off 6 to 1 geared motors and chain drives and 2.5 to 1 ratio  all brushless talk about super ABS its too frightning to be at full speed and brake only with ABS it will stop me in less than 4 metres without any problem ! I use the front wheel ABS HBS 1000  as slowing down on 100 % but I hope in the furure can check the regen amps on differnt cirkits... by the way full speed to stop still in 3 metres  full everything ! but you have to brace yourself to doo that ! no skidding no tyre noise but the tread seems to be dissapearing !
Try putting a sounder to go off when you apply Ebrake /regen if you want to sqwee's every last bit out regen ....you don;t have time to look at any lights led's (sound maybe a bit annoying ! but even 2 sounders the same seem never to have the same tone!

Food for thought !

before I had low level front back and when both levers  opperated went into high at same time

I have a non-gm controller that does the regen through the throttle. You just have to slowly release the throttle and regen slows you down, the more you turn back on the throttle the more it brakes. I rarely use the actual brakes. Its also very good for very slow speed control. I can go at walking pace and control the speed precisely without it rolling forward. Good for down hill to when I come out of the train station and people are all around, very controllable.
