Magic Pie & Smart Pie Discussions / connecting with the controller Magic Pie IV
« Last post by ElectricStreet on February 01, 2024, 09:59:47 AM »
I just finished installing a new Magic Pie IV vector control motor on a cruiser.  I downloaded the software from the Golden Motor website and extracted the compressed files in my laptop.  I connected the USB cable into the wire harness on the bike and opened  the device manager to see what com port it was connected.  The com port was  COM 3 on my computer and in the box in the configuration.  When I clicked on the blue helmet I paused and "time out" came up on the screen.  Then nothing happened when I turned on the bike electricity.  This is the Magic Pie IV that was going to be separated and put into a Magic Pie III wheel.   So it was hit with a impact hammer to try to split and I think hitting it like so was not good.  The controller is dust.

I don't recommend this method.  It is too easy to damage the axle threads with the bolt on I couldn't get the bolt off and I had to file the threads down enough to get past the spot.  Use a large press if you're determined to proceed.

General Discussions / Re: Eggrider Question

Figured it out. The Eggrider is off by a hundred. I changed the circumference value from 2045 to 2145 and the odometer reading is spot-on with my gps. Afterwards I took a new reading to see if maybe I counted wrong; nope, I got 2040mm, or 80.25”.

General Discussions / Non-Magic with BAC028 controller Connector issue
« Last post by e-lmer on January 25, 2024, 05:21:42 PM »

I have one of the original golden motor wheels and upgraded to the first generation BAC Controllers
with Molex connectors and Chinese labeling.  I then upgraded to the newer BAC controller, but the wiring is different on
the 12 pin connector.

The wheel came with 2 and 3 connectors going to a 12 pin white molex style connector.
(Like a PC power harness)

The new controller came with multi-color JST style locking connectors.
Where can I source the male version of the JST style wire to wire connectors?

Thanks for the advice.

If they're not getting hot then 7A continuous and 9A peak should  be fine.

If you find this does not give sufficient power for hill assistance you may be able to increase it slightly, but make sure the motors are not getting too hot.

It looks like either the disc or the caliper mounting bracket is incorrect, therefore you have three options:
1) Use a 140mm disc with the existing caliper and bracket.
2) Use the correct 180mm caliper adapter with the 180mm disc rotor (the adapter attached to the brake caliper not the new adapter bolted to the axle).
3) Use longer bolts and spacers/washers with the existing 140mm caliper bracket and 180mm disc.

If Golden Motor were supposed to have supplied you with a matching disc and brake caliper, I would ask them to rectify the problem.
I'm not sure how their return system works as I have never needed to return anything, so you'll have to contact them directly and ask.

HI
Hi
tx again for quick response
It is a 36V (14,4Ah) battery and engines are 36V 250W engines. From 10 years ago but never used. Battery is new
I'm putting it under stress with hill climb and my 114kgs :-) with the setting - Continuous 5 Amp and 20 Peak. It is not hot at all.
Given the small wheels and the fact it doesn't seem to warm up at all would you give it a 7 continuous (200W at 80% efficiency) and 9 at peak(259W at 80% ) ?
Or I should even lower both values as those engines will never give 250 at 80% ?
Sorry for my dummies type questions. I have only some very basic electricity expertise

Right.  I did miss the link.  I'm not a genius but I'm looking at the rear bracket I installed, the disc and actuator (caliper) low and behold it doesn't fit.  The caliper is down on the disc all the way one screw is in and the other screw looks to be held back by the disc. from going down to the bracket (5mm).  But looking at the disc it is a 180 and I'm looking at the actuator and it is for a 140.  Could that be the reason it doesn't fit?

Does Golden Motor do returns?

Hello Alan and Thank you again.   We are getting there.

I've already done a bunch of the measurements with a voltmeter and know what the ET-134 outputs.  The 126 and the 134 for have the same pinout but what I need to determine is what signals need to be sent and/or switches closed to get on the vector 300 controller operate correctly.

From the ET 134:
Pin 1 signal ground  (Reads continuous 0.7V against common ground regardless of throttle position)
Pin 2 requires +48v (13V to 52 V -  tested down to 10V)
Pin 3 produces +52V against common (or signal) ground when dial is spun in reverse direction, 0V in forward direction
Pin 4 produces +52V against common (or signal) ground when dial is spun in forward direction, 0V in reverse direction
Pin 7 is common ground - of 48V
Pin 8 produces variable + 0-5V against common ground in either forwards or reverse depending on the amount of dial rotation (Max 5.3V stated but I haven't seen that high of a value yet, My unit maxes out at 5.02V for a second then stabilizes at 5.0V)

So now I know how to wire everything except for somehow I need to close the switch between Brown and Black for reverse.

Regards,
Charles
