Title: Do I need a Shunt for a Magic Pie III and Cycle Analyst?
Post by: Jerry on May 20, 2020, 06:09:56 PM
Hi.   I guess that I'm an unconfirmed member.   I have a really simple question to ask, but I can't find an answer on the existing threads (or on the Golden Motor website).   I simply want to know "Do I need a shunt to use a Cycle Analyst 2.4 display with a Magic Pie III or will it connect directly into the Magic Pie wiring harness without a shunt ?).   I guess the thread title would be something like "Do I need a Shunt for a Magic Pie III and CA ?"     Many Thanks

Hi Jerry, you guessed wrong.  ???
Your account was Confirmed years ago when you originally posted about the sound module (https://goldenmotor.com/SMF/index.php?topic=5320.msg30481#msg30481), which means you are a "Confirmed" member.  ;)

The shunt will definitely be required as it is the only way that the Cycle Analyst can measure the battery current.
