MP4 disc brake caliper rubbing on it
« on: September 10, 2014, 05:50:45 PM »
Hi,
Purchased the MP4 and really happy with it. Silent, powerful, fantastic. However, I noticed that my disc brake caliper is rubbing against the motor shell. It obviously effects the efficiency and wanted to know if anyone has the same issue? I tried shifting the calipers but unfortunately it cannot be adjusted. I can grind down the plastic that is rubbing but I am sure a few more rides to and from work will grind it down for me but again, just wondering if anyone else is having this same issue?

Hi,
I had the same problem on my mpIII. I solved it by using a bigger disk (180mm)

Unless you can add spacers to the disk and the hub-motor, I think grinding it down is the only option.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Eriknoort, when you got your bigger disc rotor, I am assuming that you kept everything else the same and installed the mount adapter for the calipers to reach??

Hi - I had the same problem with an MP3 build and I ended up grounding down the caliper by about 7mm - did it manually with a file and took about half an hour...
