Title: Golden Motor Solar Chargers (36V/48V 80W)
Post by: GoldenMotor on June 24, 2009, 08:50:06 AM
GoldenMotor portable and foldable Solar Charger available in 36V and 48V (80w output). The weight is 12kgs, dimensions: 67x53x8cm after folding.

You simply plug and the charging will start! You can fold the two solar panels and carry it like a suit case, easily place it into your car boot.

I am riding my bike with your mini motor 250W kit for one month now and although I had to change rim and spokes I am very satisfied with the performance. I use Bosch 36V Li-Ion Battery packs as power source.

Do you sell your solar charger without solar modules too? Is this a Maximum Power Point- Solar Charger?
What is the voltage input range of this charger?

regards
Peter

I'd say the solar cell is the charger. It simply supplies the voltage the battery needs and the BMS in the battery does the rest.

How long does it take to charge a 36V 16aH battery with this?

I would imagine it takes about a million years if ever - especially in Ireland.

Hi Phil,

not at all!!

I am using a Golden 250W Minimotor in a frontwheel. Distance to work ist 28km and I need ~ 150Wh from my two 2Ah Bosch fat battery packs. Assuming that you use your bike from March to Oktober you will get a solar radiation of ~ 3kWh/m²d in Dublin.

3kWh/m²d : 1000W/m² STC conditions = 3h/d of the peak power from a solar modul.
150Wh/d : 3h/d = 50W, losses of 15% --> solar module size = ~ 57Wp or bigger

A 60 to 80Wp solar module will deliver enough energy to charge the battery during day time.

I hope Golden Motor is going to sell their solar charge controller seperately, that would be a very nice option!

Pieroh,

I have studied solar PV panels have owned some - I don't think these would be too usefull in Ireland, but let me know how you get on if you buy some any way,

Thanks,
Phil
