Title: Low speed performance figures
Post by: Element on October 30, 2014, 02:48:18 PM
Where can I post to find a table showing BLDC 5kw performace starting at 0 rpm..

I want to build a 125cc motorcycle  conversion and need to better understand loe speed performance

Hi and(https://i.imgur.com/evDSMvT.png)to the forum.

I have not seen any figures for any of the GM motors which go anywhere near as low as zero rpm, but here are the performance curves that I managed to find for the HPM5000:

HPM5000 72V performance curve (http://www.goldenmotor.com/eCar/HPM72-5000Curve%20.pdf)

HPM5000 96V performance curve (http://www.goldenmotor.com/eCar/HPM96-5000Curve.pdf)

The performance tests are carried out on a dynamometer which measures the power being produced by the motor at full throttle by gradually applying load to the motor which causes the speed to gradually reduce. The test is usually aborted when the current being drawn starts to become too high, which could result in damage to the windings in the motor.

Electric motors typically deliver their maximum torque at zero rpm, but trying to measure the maximum torque for a prolonged period of time with a stationary motor (to determine its stall torque) could easily damage the motor windings.
