It seems I'm not alone in that the Bluetooth app does not work. While I can see the speed and whatnot, I cannot modify and save any changes through the app. This is fine as I do not mind using my USB cable.
Anyone have links to the older versions of the app? The ones I scavenged for seem to be down.
However, I am worried though, will this Bluetooth App glitch affect my ability to use my pedelec and the ability to switch from 1 to 5 if I am having this issue?

I had the same problem...
Here is goldenmotor1.1.apk that should work with Magic Pie 5...
Let me know if it doesn't so I can send you the other versions...
Cheers
EDIT: Title changed to help locate attachment

Thank you!!! I am going to try these when I get home later. Do you by any chance have versions 1.31 or 1.30?
EDIT: I tried version 1.1 it won't even open :(
Thanks!

I realized why the Bluetooth app is crashing.
The app works fine when I am at home, but the app always crashes when I am in a public place where there are other bluetooth devices in the vicinity.
Perhaps the developer of this app (if there still is one) should make a note of this issue? It seems there's issues when my bluetooth scans and finds other devices near me.

None of the APK's worked on my newer version of Android. I could load the app, but not save any parameter changes to the controller.
However, when I connected the 1.30 APK to my older Android 4.4 phone, it works and I can save the settings to the controller via Bluetooth!!! I love you Alan! Thanks man! :) Now I have to take my phone to the mall and see if it crashes. That's another story. :)

Spoke too soon.
All 5 versions crash when I'm in a public place. :(
-
Could someone be using an illegal cell phone jammer that is interfering with your Bluetooth signal and causing the App to crash? :-\
Try another public place and see if the problem reoccurs. ;)

Hi Carlo,
The two phones I use successfully are both Samsung Galaxy Core Primes, the older one (SM-G3608) is running Android 4.4.4 and the newer one (SM-G361F) is running Android 5.1.1.
Check out this thread (https://goldenmotor.com/SMF/index.php?topic=6103.msg34169#msg34169) for further details.

I just wanted to bump this thread to say, this is the first page that has shown me where to find the ap for my Android Device.. I went through the FAQ, several other pages. They all talk about the software, but did not seem to point me in the direction of getting this software. Luckly I was tech savvy enough to track it down, but something more direct and clear would be nice. If there is, then I missed it...

I really wish they would just put it on the Play store.

I really wish they would just put it on the Play store.
That is where I first checked.. The kit came with zero directions. I don't need any, as this isn't my first Ebike kit. It only took me a few minutes to figure everything out.

Printed instructions really are being phased out in "the connected world". I think the first thing I recall that came without instructions was windows 95. That was 23 years ago. Nowadays most things I buy I find the instructions are online. So I don't find it unusual to go to the site I purchased from to look for instructions or just "google it". Everything we ship has a packing list in the box. On that packing slip, it says "for instructions go to the site and click support then click instructions". It also says that on the bottom of the invoice when purchasing.
But still, most of the instructions on my site are things I created or links to my FAQ or this form as Golden Motor does not put out much in the way of instructions. I am trying to think of the last thing I bought that came with instructions and am drawing a blank. Anything I can think of just said got to the site, follow a link, etc..

While I agree with the paper instructions being outdated, a couple key points can be included in the packaging at least, in big letters. For me, the freewheel spacer was under some other parts and I didn't see it, so I had to take apart my build after searching online why the rear derailleur contacts the motor. Thankfully I had a spark plug remover to remove the freewheel with, or i'd have been stuck buying another bike tool.
Also for those of us with the EDGE motor, its not plainly apparent which instruction guide are applicable. The kit is pretty easy to figure out atleast with how the harnesses connect :)

My Google Pixel phone just updated to Android P and the app (version 1.6) is no longer working. It launches, but then is stuck with the Golden motor icon upper left on a black bar and all else is white. Tried to clear data/cache and reinstalled, but still the same result.
-
Any chance of an update on a fix?
-
Sent a message a while back to a similar effect as the two below. First sent to GM and then some time later to GM Canada (where I purchased the kit). No reply yet.

Android apk v 1.7 is now out and should resolve any issues

Edit: Finally got it to install by navigating to the downloaded APK through Google's "Files" app and opening there. With this it was able to install. Additionally, the app now appears to be working again, connected to Bluetooth without issue and displayed stats of the motor.
My phone (Google pixel) is rejecting the install (yes I have allowed install from unknown sources) with "App not installed" message after clicking install.
Will try some more but it's not promising.

Used a Samsung 6S with app 1.6 successfully, but then again I don not do a lot of mall biking.

After flashing the firmware on my MP5, I have no trouble using my Samsung Galaxy S10+ (SM-G975F) with the 1,8 app. If I try to go to blutooth settings and connect to GM, I get asked for a password/code, I enter 0 and "connect" then I get a message that it could not connect... Then I open the app, click the connect> click GM and back then the app is up and running with speedometer and settings.

Hello
I just bought an Edge pie 5 with the bluetooth dongle, but I can't get it to work with my smartphone which is a Xiaomi MI A3 with Android 10. I tested the version 1.7 and 1.8 that can be downloaded from https://www.goldenmotor.com/apps/ (by the way the version in the application information are both 1.7 even for the 1.8 maybe an error)
So here's if someone is in the same situation as me and has an idea to make the application work on Android 10 I'm a taker.
Thanks

I Need help please :(

Hi Nimrod,
Does the App open and run on your phone?
If so, can you see the GM device when you click on the Bluetooth icon?
Have you tried Version 1.6 (https://goldenmotor.com/SMF/index.php?topic=6265.msg35118#msg35118) to see what happens?
Please explain exactly what happens when you launch the App and then try to connect to the Bluetooth dongle.

Thanks for your help, Alan.
Thé 1.6 crash ! A cannot open it.
Yes, thé 1.7 or 1.8 the application works and opens normally. It doesn't crash at any time, this side is fine. The problem is the Bluetooth sync. The phone tries to synchronize, but gives a systematic failure message.
The message says that it can't synchronize because of a missing or wrong pin code.
Only at no time is it possible to enter this code anywhere. The other apps always ask for a pin code and offer a dialog to enter it but the GM app doesn't. The GM app does not have a pin code.
After failing this synchronization in the smartphone settings, if I open the GM app and look in the bluetooth connections menu I find a device named GM. I click on it. It tells me I'm connected but nothing changes on the application's dial ans thé "b" icon is rend.
I think there is not much to change for it to work. But I've been searching for several weeks without results.
Thanks for your help.

You have to connect to the Bluetooth dongle using the Bluetooth icon in the GM App, not through the phones Bluetooth scan function:
(Click on the above diagrams to enlarge them.)
If your phone detects the GM bluetooth dongle and you have previously tried to pair the GM dongle using the phone's normal Bluetooth scan/connect procedure, try and unpair it before opening the GM App.
Some people have also mentioned that it sometimes connects if Bluetooth is turned off before opening the GM App and then allowing Bluetooth to be turned on.
The only other thing I can suggest it clearing the cache and data from the GM App via the phones application manager before opening the GM App and then trying to connect again.

Thank you. Thank you. I've tried everything you advised me to do. But it still doesn't work. The connection doesn't connect and the "b" stays red, even though it tells me it's connected.
-
Unfortunately, I don't know what else to suggest, apart from trying to connect with a different phone (older Android or iPhone etc.?) to check if the Bluetooth dongle and controller are working correctly?
Bluetooth Apk 1.7 and 1.8 attached.

The android app only works on older devices in my experience - I've tried 1.6, 1.7 & 1.8 (which still shows as 1.7 in settings) but none of them work with my android 10 or above devices. That's probably why it's not available on the play store - because it doesn't work (Or it's riddled with spyware).

Hello good news.
There is a new version here https://www.goldenmotor.com/apps/MagicPie-UI1.9.apk and now its working with android 10 very well thanks
have nice days
