Title: Heat transfer
Post by: norkmeister on February 16, 2008, 06:01:12 AM
Hi,

I notice that in this video:

That the guy recommends some heat transfer goo on the heat sink part on that controller and the heat sink fins on the controller.  Anyone got comments on the validity of this.  I'm expecting my kit sometime soon and figure that maybe I should just take the board out straight away and do what he suggests.

Cheers,
Jeremy.

I haven't heard many complaints regarding heat dissipation in the controller.  I'm guessing the video is related to the guy's 48V mod to the controller, but I might be missing something.  I haven't watched through all of the guy's videos to see if he has figured out how to keep the 15V linear regulator from overheating when overvolting to 48V.  Pdonahue describes on the forums the method he found to work.  He didn't report any other overheating problems related to the main MOSFETs.
