Title: Can the Goldenmotor 24V kit be run at 36V?
Post by: natjirra on January 29, 2008, 06:06:15 AM
Hi guys,
I've just bought & set up a 24V Goldenmotor kit & realized that I'd like a bit more power  :-[
Does anyone know if I can simply put 36V through it, or do I need a new controller? &/or motor?

The HBS-24 motor I got has the exact same outer dimensions as the HBS-36, so I'm sorta hoping that it has the same internals (just underpowered).

Also goldenmotor website doesn't specify whether the controller is the same for the 24V as 36V. It just shows a controller pic & says, "Speed Control Kits (500W or below):", which I'm hoping would sorta indicate that it's the 1 controller for both kits.

Does anyone know???

I've just had a reply from Philip Yeo @ GoldenMotor. He wrote:

"You need to buy a 36V controller to drive 36V motor (original 24V) to get more powerful output.
The price of 36V controller set is USD38 plus air shipping USD30.
You can make payment to our PayPal account: sales@goldenmotor.com
 Thanks,

I assume that this means the 24V motor is identical to the 36V one, and just the controller is different.
That makes it easy!     :D

Cheers.
