Hi andto the forum.

I tend to run my MP4 on low voltage packs most of the time and the highest recorded wattage I have so far is 996.5 Watts @ 30.09 Amps on an 8 cell (29.6V) LiPo pack.

I have just tested it on a completely knackered 14 cell (51.8V) LiPo pack, but I still managed to record a reading of 1411.2 Watts @ 30.35 Amps, which is a lot more than I had expected. Not just because of the battery, but also because my MP4 is installed in the "wheelie machine" and the Center of Gravity is so far back that it's difficult to apply full power at low speed with a high voltage pack without the bike flipping over backwards:

The 5Ah battery pack used was reading 58.39V at the beginning of the ride and I only used 0.718Ah overall, but the pack is so bad that the power quickly dropped away during use and the watt meter actually recorded an incredibly low minimum voltage reading of just 20.95V :o during the short ride, and I suspect this could have been even lower if the controller didn't have the built in "Undervoltage protection" function.

I guess while the battery was initially nice and cold, it must only have been pulled down to ~46.5V under load to produce 1411.2 Watts @ 30.35 Amps .
At the end of the ride the voltage settled at 55.22V and the battery pack was very warm. :-[

I would expect to see more than 1500 watts if I were to use a good battery which didn't produce such an unbelievable voltage sag under load.

wheelie machine  8)

At Golden motor website states

Magic Pie 4 Sine Wane Controller

Cantinuos current 30A
Voltage 20 - 60V
Rated power 500 to 1000W

Is the 1000W not max?

Is 60V * 30A = 1800W good?

When will the motor or regulator die?

I have 6 * 6s 5000mA battery.

3 and 3 in parallel, so it is 15.000mA 12s. Max 50,4V

The power rating usually relates to the maximum continuous power that the motor can withstand not the peak power it is capable of producing.

Is 60V * 30A = 1800W good?

1800 watts peak should be fine for the motor, but it probably won't be road legal!

My personal opinion is that 1800 watts is very good indeed, but 4396.7 watts provides even more fun. ;)

When will the motor or regulator die?

Hopefully neither will die, the controller should be able to protect itself (and the motor) by reducing power if it becomes too hot, but you are very unlikely to be drawing 1800 watts for any length of time as the power will drop considerably as the speed increases.
