White Vaseline
« on: December 05, 2014, 12:03:44 AM »
I just want to share a small tip with all of you.

On my boat exposed to salt water and rain, I use white vaseline in all electrical connectors, lids, screws and movable parts.

Would recommend to apply white vaseline to all electrical connectors to avoid corrosion and water ingress.

If not, it's just a matter of time before it fails.

For all moving parts I apply it with a small 4mm brush so I get it in all cracks. The grease does not affect gaskets and insulates.

I bought one here in Norway, same size in the chemist, 10 times the price  :P

So next time you are installing something, apply some white vaseline on treads, bolts, connectors etc.

This is important as the Magic Pie does not like water, nor does the connectors! Applying plenty of grease should ease the problem.

Typical example: Corroded back light not design to last or withstand water. Gasket is missing, drain hole is missing in bottom.

Had to solder two corroded points on the circuit board.

By applying white vaseline, you avoid corrosion.
