9-speed screw on gear sprocket
« on: August 22, 2010, 10:55:08 AM »
Hi there.  I have an e-bike setup with a Shimano screw on 6-speed sprocket however would like to move the kit over to another bike that has a 9-speed.

Is it possible to get hold of a screw on sprocket with 9-gears?  I don't want to lose my speed when pedalling by using the slower 6-speed.

I'm also worried that my gear shifter will not be compatible with the Shimano 6-speed sprocket...  Is it possible to adjust the 9-speed shifter to work with the 6-speed sprocket?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards,

Wayne  ;D

You can get an 8 speed screw on freewheel but will need to change your chain and possibly your derailiers and one gear lever  :)

Sounds like a Sunrace MFM90 Screw on nine speed freewheel and a couple of washers might be the cheapest and easiest option.
