Hall sensor part number needed
« on: October 22, 2007, 06:26:54 AM »
My ebike quit today going up a hill.  I've only got about 50 miles on it.  At first I thought the FETs in the controller gave out, but a quick check of the hub windings and hall sensors identified one hall sensor was dead.  Can anyone out there tell what vendor and part number is that will replace this hall sensor?  I have the 36v/ 500w hub.  I’ve opened up the hub and verified the wires and connector are okay and another bench test confirms it’s the one sensor.  So with all the possible hall sensors listed in the Digi-Key catalog, which one will work in this application?  I would hate to do trial and error if someone has the information.
Thanks for any help.

I'm interested too. And further, do you think it's possible to get the whole electronic piece with both the 3 sensors mounted ? It would be much more easy to change, because changing one needs a surgical precision that I do not have.

From a few previous threads I was able to collect the following information:

http://www.instructables.com/id/EWL8QR1F3SYTODB/
http://www.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?PName?Name=480-1999-ND

I think myelectricbike provided the part numbers originally, you can search back through the old posts to confirm the part numbers above are correct.

Hopefully it works out for you.

Thanks guys!
This is just the info I needed.  This saves me the trial and error process.
While we are hall sensors does anyone happen to know what the part number is for the throttle one?

Thanks again,
CarlsEbike :D

Sorry, I can't help you on that one.  Hopefully it is just the same part.

Anyone have that information?

Don't you think these sensors could work ?

MEB, I am looking for sensors on the wheel, not throttle ones. I guess some users have already change their, and could prevent me from burning some unadequate ones.
I was thinking about trying the sensors found here in France, although I am not able to analyse their characteristics, because Digikeys charges a 28€ fee for delivery. Of course I shall post the results back : exchanging information is the aim of forums, isn't it ?

Ah, I had assumed you were still discussing the trottle hall sensor.  I wish I could help you figure out if the sensors you posted are compatible or not, but I don't know the specific criteria that make a hall sensor equivalent or not.  Are there no local / European vendors that sell the SS41 hall sensor from Microswitch/Honeywell?

Hi, I have finally ordered some sensors at ebikes.ca. I was told they could work.
When I receive them, I shall of course tell you.
Thank you for your help.
