Title: mechanic : how to open the rear wheel ?
Post by: caradec on October 22, 2007, 09:44:48 AM
Now another problem, rather mechanical than electronic : in order to check my sensors, I need to open the rear motor. No problem for one side, but I don't see how to remove the freewheel.
Do someone know how to proceed ? Thanks.

Yoy need the tool to remove the freewheel, so the easiest way is take it to a bike shop and let them pop it off in a minute.

Maybe I am wrong, but it seems that the freewheel -I mean the "gables" (right translation ?)- is mounted on the axle, so I can't remove the cover. Unfortunately the sensors are on this side of the wheel.

Actually, the freewheel threads onto the hub cover. So if you remove the screws around the perimeter of the hub, the face of the hub and the freewheel will come off together. Just make sure you remove the axle nut first.

Well done, Dave, you're right ! I didn't dare to force it because it was hard, but after reading you, I insisted, and it finally came with the cover.
Now I have to find new sensors and try to change them. I will tell you.
Thanks a lot.  :)
