Mounting Magic Pie motors on a single sided stub axle
« on: May 29, 2012, 05:23:02 PM »
Hi everyone,

As a college project I'm building a small four wheel electric kart. I am hoping to use 18” or 20” Magic Pie 3 hub motors but instead of mounting them between forks I would like to mount them on one side using a stub axle connected to my steering knuckle.  Bikemad suggested a way in which this could be done on a Segway type project which I am tempted to try http://goldenmotor.com/SMF/index.php?topic=4317.0   I was wondering if anyone had tried this before or had any more suggestions on how it could be done. Also could anyone please tell me the maximum diameter of the axle where it fits into the stator or perhaps post some pictures.

Thanks

Christian
