Removing "turbines" ?
« on: June 05, 2011, 07:06:08 AM »
Hi all,

Since I would like to see visually less fancy MP, I am not necessarily a big fan of the "turbines",
I assume those are basically just for visual purposes, this is why I have one question?

Have anyone of you ever tried to remove them somehow? In a nice way or in a hard way?

There was one guy who filed & sanded the turbines off, I just spent ages trying to find the post! Alan how are your sleuthing skills today? ;)

My opinion was it looked a bit molested.... If you have a metal lathe would be the best method as if you left too much mass on any side could cause an imbalance.

I personally, would go with Gingey's idea. He has some good methods with his 'KISS' principles ;)

And if you go down that road you could use my idea and paint it with 'Duplicolor MetalCast Paint' or 'flash cast paint' that has an adonized look.

Here is a youtube video, have a look for others because the quality of this one is poor. Its a nice look though!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHOebG6D8SU

I was going to make mine gold for 'true' golden motors ;)
