Title: replacing Pie internal controller??
Post by: dicko on May 06, 2010, 09:07:19 AM
Hey

Just recieved my 48v 12ah pie kit with controller inside the wheel.
I cannot get it going, no matter what I try. Ive been told it seems to be a controller problem. can the internal pie controllers be replaced?
thanks

Hi and(https://i.imgur.com/evDSMvT.png)to the forum Dicko.

First of all, check that the battery gauge LEDs are lighting up, if they do not light up, it could be problem with the battery, wiring or switch.

What tests have been carried out that would seem to indicate it's a controller problem?

Do you get any beeps from the motor?

Have you checked to make sure that you are getting at least 50V from the battery?

Check out this post (http://goldenmotor.com/SMF/index.php?topic=2040.msg10037#msg10037) and try the suggestion which bypasses the the harness and controls.
But make sure the wheel is off the ground before you try it, because if it works, it will be running at full throttle!

Hey, thanks for the info.
the battery is making good voltage. When I got the kit, there were 2 wires which were cut, and when I connected he plugs up, the motor ran and didnt stop. I worked out that the red and black wire needed to be joined to the rest of the harness. Once I joined them, the battery indication leds's worked but only for a short time. Now the led don't light up, and the motor only slightly moves when I disconnect the battery.
not sure, but one of the wires could of shorted with another when I was connecting up. The standard plugs had wires cut, with bad instructions.
Ill check the post you sent thru.

thanks

I have the same issue. no beeps no spin.
Is it possible to order and replace the internal controller?
