Hybrid drive vehicle
« on: September 10, 2013, 12:34:08 PM »
Hello, my name  is Antonio and Im from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. We don't have many electric or  hybrids here, but I am interested in a diy project to adapt and ice to and hybrid.
I saw the new beetle photo at golden motor‘s  that seems to have both electric and ice engines conected. Does anyone has more information about it?

My general idea is to turn off the alternator and use  small pack off bateries just for low traffic movement and a it more torque when combined to the ice. However, im not sure how to link the electric motor to the cranckshaft without unmounting the gearshift, and even if I do that I might not have enough space.
Do you guys think that I could use a belt (not ure if its the correct word) to link the electric motor to the cranckshaft?
I intend to use a 10kw motor to do this and I also want to eliminate the starter engine as ill have another motor that could turn on the ice...
